Just thought I would take this picture

Day #118 10/5/11: I’ve really been gone if that happens…

Sometimes you have those days that could have been different and this was strangely one of those days. I had slept pretty much a whole 8 hours after watching Pineapple Express which was a very funny movie for it’s wittiness and it’s charm to draw casual viewers and stoners alike. I wasn’t up for challenge to get up early so I figured my dad wouldn’t come and wake me. But, he asked me to come with him for a follow up appointment he had at the hospital. I came wondering if something would change, if at all, if I came with him and in fact it did. That day, a common man killed 3 people at a factory in Cupertino and many schools including my former high school(s) Homestead High and Cupertino were either on lockdown or told parents to keep their kids at home. I was at the hospital and I didn’t think nothing other than the fact that I was sharing stories with my dad about Mexico and it still fascinates me that he and I can have, among many things, a strong bond over something so small yet powerful. I was reading my book about happiness while this man hunt was going on and I wouldn’t know about it till later that evening. The wait was around two hours so as I went to pay my dad’s bill  he had his appointment and after that 15 minute period we headed over to his friend’s restaurant/ taquiera to have food as we hadn’t eaten that whole day. He sat down and talked to his friend while I just listened to the music and enjoyed the food we had. Later on that day, I was reminded that I was going to hang out with my buddy Ricky and we had a lot to share that night as some very good baseball had been going on and we also discussed some future plans for the both of us. The most interesting part was talking about a co-worker he has that claims he needs diving classes as he wants to be in the FBI and he also wants to go to the Nation’s capital in order to take intelligence classes. I was laughing about it but I was also thinking this guy has it really bad and I shouldn’t make it so that he is nothing but a comedy bit. We had some In-N-Out Burger and this is where I found out about the man hunt that had taken place and I was curious because of the fact that earlier there was a helicopter in the air which was strange. A very compelling day indeed because of the circumstances and the craziness.

Day #116 10/3/11: Rain, Rain, Rain…

One of the first times I have been able to document a rainy day on Project 365 as I stayed at home in reluctance as the day was dark and gloomy in a way. I ended up reading more of this book about Happiness that I had picked up the week before and I also watched a very funny movie called “The Jerk” which had Steve Martin in it and he did a fantastic job of showing us that comedy has no boundaries. The rain kept pouring and I switched between reading my book and tuning into the movie and both did have their benefits. Later on, my mom made me some hamburgers and fries. Cool Day!

Day #115 10/2/11: Secrets of my memory…

I can’t say much about the day except for the fact that my buddy and me had some taco bell by work. The picture was taken to remind me of the great time I had saying goodbye to an old friend I had at work and all the conversations I had with her serve as a reminder that people leave an impact on you and you will never forget them. I worked by myself most of the day which wasn’t bad as there was no pressure and little to compensate for as well. Otherwise a day where the oakland raiders crushed my dreams of being an elite team and the playoffs in baseball started getting interesting.

Day #114 10/1/11: Cruz Dr. that can’t be right?…

A picture taken after I had walked my dog at the end of Sunnyvale and the beginning of Santa Clara. The morning started when my dad asked me if I could help him out and find him this address that went by Cruz Dr. Now, if you are the average person you are probably thinking that Cruz is the most common name for a street but spelling is my enemy nowadays because of this. I woke up and unwillingly helped my dad out but later that morning I learned that if they did something for you,you have to be able to, in whatever form, muster up some type of energy to tell yourself, they did it for a reason so my reason was getting into these situations serves as a purpose to deal with people face to face and it also serves as a confidence builder. This place ended up being by Brokaw Road in San Jose which is by this big wholesaler called Restaurant Depot and the street was called Kruse Drive (“fave 5” author’s note: As silly as this sounds my dad passed the cross street 3 times and the actual De La Cruz Blvd. leads to this street and I was sure that this was the street, I was wrong). After, he found what he needed ( a box of rum at a warehouse) and we proceeded to visit one of his friends while I walked my dog hoping that I would find the new store Fresh and Easy and I did end up doing so. The rest of the day I had a very fun day at work talking to some old comrades and enjoying the fun at the fact that everything was clicking that day. Cool day!

Day #113 9/30/11: Pay my bills…

A picture taken at about 9 at night after a quick shift I took for 5 hours or so at work and also after the gym. The morning was quite strange as I ended up having a stiff neck and I had no idea how I fell asleep except for the fact that the last thing that I remember was that I was watching Pablo Francisco’s Bits and Pieces on You Tube which is very funny if you haven’t seen it. One line that he had was that guys end up having songs that beg for a girl’s forgiveness but girls will have songs that just tear the poor guys up. True, but ironic indeed. Not a bad day at all, a lot of energy and some fun conversations with an old friend that had just come back from vacation as we had some great sayings to tell each other.

Day #112 9/29/11: Too much spice…

These were some ribs my brother ended up making this day as they took a long time to make and my niece once again went crazy as she loves her some papas and pollos. She ended up talking a lot this day as she has some funny words that she says that make us all laugh in joy and cry in laughter. What’s interesting is that my dog always gets so damn jealous when my niece shows up that she almost gets angry at everybody and she doesn’t want to upset anybody so much. I ended up working very early in the morning and it was a nice refresher and a nice look back at what it’s like to work so early. A great day for family time!

Day #111 9/28/11: Wild Card Wednesday…

What a crazy day as my dad and I woke up in the morning to get ready to go buy a board for his jeep as we asked at the dealer about what could be wrong and we finally ended up buying it for his car. After this we ended up going up to Costco so we could buy some very tasty hot dogs and some drinks. We ended up getting home at around 2 or so where my dad ended up putting the taillight in with my brother’s help and also I gave my dog a bath as we are trying to rid her of her fleas the best we can. I ended up sharing some thoughts with my friend Ricky about an upcoming speech that he has and I gave him some ideas as I hope that this coming week we can meet up and watch some baseball. Speaking of baseball, I just happened to see that at about 4 that day the games were about to start so I went to the gym so I can be at home while the games were going on. I worked out as the Boston game was being shown and not much was happening as the score was tied 2-2. I happened to stop by my old Middle school here in Sunnyvale and this reminded me of the craziness that baseball has sometimes and the many crazy things that happen. When I got back, I found out that the Boston game was being rain delayed and somehow the Rays happened to be down 6-0 and then when I was leaving to go pick up my mom it was now down to one run. As soon as I got back, the craziness started again and as expected both the teams that were leading choked and I realized the, only in baseball does this happen.

Day #110 9/27/11: Moneyball is a bunch of garbage…no just kidding…

Taken the day before this great baseball season ended, I was watching this special on the movie Moneyball and I am hearing that the movie is great. The topics varied about the movie, sports, actor’s thoughts on the sport of baseball, what’s it like to be translating books to film, the topic of the genius Billy Beane, and what it’s like when baseball capital hooks up the actual capital. I also went to the library for a few hours this day as I rode in my dad’s car this day as the tail light was knocked out but I was driving it in the day thankfully. I also bought my family some food as we hooked up at night with my niece, myself, my brother, my dad, and mom as we all shared some cheap hamburgers from Carl JR’s as we all joyed in my niece’s crazy antics in the garage and in the living room. A great day!
