Day #178 12/4/11: The afterparty at Denny’s…

Technically, this is the beginning of the day at the parking lot of Denny’s where me and my pals talked about some cool stories including a lady sleeping on a table and some people getting into a ruckus at the place. The rest of the day, I picked up on the Curt Flood story and it still fascinates me how paranoid the guy is on his batting average and his fellow teammates. Otherwise, the Oakland Raiders got pounced by the Dolphins and I learned something new at Big Red.

Day #177 12/3/11: The worst day ever… a few months back anyway

A picture taken of the Bank of America where I locked my wheel and I had to change my key hole soon thereafter in May. There was a bit of good things back in that month of May where I did a survey with a funny classmate of mine who I hope remembers that day as much as I do. I also took this picture to remind me of the fact that even though there was a lot of craziness that day it taught me to depend on others as much as I do because if they weren’t there who would be? A great day nonetheless ended by hanging out with my buddies Walt and Gump at Santa Clara Billiards where we also invited another co-worker who loves philosophy as much as I do.

Day# 176 12/2/11: 13 conversations…

A pretty interesting day where I couldn’t register at Mission because of a dumb decision by me not to be registered into the system for winter so I had to wait until Monday to apply for winter/spring. I watched this movie the night before and it is a very interesting movie based on people being either happy or upset over certain circumstances in their lives. First there was a case where one of the main characters spent his life as a lawyer putting people in jail and he saw that he had almost the same characteristics as his criminals because he wasn’t a good person as he manipulated the system and in fact ran over another character in the movie whose life was ruined by the lawyer. That character in turn worked as a housekeeper and she was happier before the incident happened but when it happened she was very negative and hated life. She turned the corner though by realizing that you can’t control certain circumstances in life and you just have to keep moving on. Very minor though in this case, one of the characters was having an affair and his wife knew right away what was going on when his wallet was stolen but returned and she found out right away. This character wanted life to be unpredictable and exciting as he had the quote that got me thinking when he was conversing with his student about him getting into med school and helping people live another day “How ? By keeping them alive today so you can their misery until tomorrow?” The last character, Alan Arkin, really had a good performance portraying the typical 9-5 man who has a drug troubled son and a divorcee who hates him very much. He carries this with him everyday to work and he detests anyone who looks happy and tries to not get into life’s problems. One interesting subplot here is how he ends up firing the happiest looking guy in the company due to downsizing within the divisions of the company as he wants to “takes that smile off his face”. Later on, however, he is able to see the error of his ways and in some ways he makes up for it by asking his wife’s new husband to see if he can hire him and he in fact does. This character sees that even though his life is largely determined by luck or sheer bad luck in this case, he still had a semblance of heart and a willingness to speak about a realistic point of view. A very good movie that I was able to talk about with a friend of mine at work and he had some very interesting view points about how he might check it out for himself.

Day #175 12/1/11: Rock and Roll…

A picture taken after work where it was a mellow day and I pretty much had the easiest day in a while and I can’t say that I earned my money that day as I pretty much conversed with co-workers all day and tried to find stuff to do as well. After work, I went home as me and my brother chilled with his daughter trying to maintain her behavior that is very energetic lately. I also started reading the story about Curt Flood and his battle against baseball and even though I’m not into the thick of it yet, I can see that baseball players are very complicated people and they have their own issues as well.

Day #173 11/29/11: One thing…

I relaxed by working out in the afternoon and afterwards headed off to the library and I thought I would take this picture to remind me of the fading day and the sun setting already. I was very calm because I wanted to give myself a day of doing something I wanted to do. After this, I bought my family food for the night and bought my dog her brand new dog bed after she had torn two previous ones. At night, my brother and my niece came over to give us company and we had a ball talking about sickness, the holidays, future endeavors, and other things as well. An enthralling day indeed.

Day #171 11/27/11: Yardwork leads to victory…

A morning where me and my dad did some yardwork out front and our backyard and it was really worth it as we spent a good two hours raking, mowing, cutting, and cleaning up all the clutter in both parts of our house. I enjoy doing this stuff with another person because it prepares me for things later on in life as I see how his work ethic is and I can improve mine as well. After we did this, I hoped that this would lead to an Oakland Raiders victory and in fact it did as I saw that the score was 18-13 when I left and later I found out we had won the game. So, hopefully more so in the future I will help my dad out with stuff like this because who knows it could lead to great things. Work was pretty strange because of the dynamics of a co-worker of mine that is turning towards an evil side of thinking.

Day #170 11/26/11: Nemesis…

Quick recap of the day:

Watched more Wonder Years and watched one of the more enjoyable episodes Nemesis (“the bottom line” author’s note: this episode brought me back to how many situations come back to us and may hurt us in the end)

Talked to a good pal of mine at work about how he feels about relationships and how he went to extremes to satisfy his ex girlfriend which shocked me as to how smart he really is and how he makes me feel like I can just keep learning from these conversations.

and ended the night at the gym.

Day #169 11/25/11: When all the dust has settled…

A picture of the Fry’s parking lot where I lined up at midnight for Black Friday to see if there was anything that was good to buy and truth be told it seemed like all hype. Everything was gone within the first thirty minutes and I felt disappointed in that most places do the same.I still was sick but I didn’t get any sicker after I left this crazy mayhem and I slept for 6 hours or so to gear up for a 9 Am shift which was great because I was in the department that was the least busy around the Machine. Somehow, I got through that shift on the power of orange juice and KFC which was our lunch for that day. The shift went by very quickly and by the time I knew it I was back home chilling and after that I felt like going to Office Max and seeing if there was anything left but once again nothing. Black Friday is a day for people to go out and enjoy the madness of our consumer ways but truth be told it also serves as the beginning of our holiday shopping. A great day ended by me once again somehow falling asleep at my brother’s house for 15 minutes.
