Day #12 6/20/11: For that lovely parking lot…

I have a lot of memories in this parking lot as this day was filled with having to deal with editing my paper about global warming, which at the end of all of it was actually pretty decent. I also had to go and call my friends at my medical provider to ask some questions regarding my coverage and that issue was actually handled quite well. This picture was filled with a good amount of work as my old friend Silva and myself chatted up about some recent drama that has surfaced at the big red machine and the performance of a co-worker. My supervisor had told me the day before “Do you want to pick up his slack or do you want him to be as good as you?” This is what kind of bothered me because you can’t really make anyone look good because if they aren’t willing to go along with the program then why even bother. It seems that this co-worker of mine is better when there is someone superior watching him. This has seemed to be the case as I’ve heard that he does much better when there is someone watching him. He also seems to ask too many questions in terms of what needs to get done in our line of work. My saying is that if you care and actually are knowledgeable at the job you should know what needs to get done. I expressed my concern to Silva and he agreed that I shouldn’t worry about his work ethic because people like that have to learn to hustle in order to actually perform the way people want him to. I agreed and then I saw that what worked the night might work that night and wow it did work but either way I have to keep working with this person in order to get him caught up with the program. Otherwise, a pretty quiet day at the Big Red Machine
