Day #11 6/19/11: Sweep!….

This was an exciting day because it was my last day of preparing my global warming as I rushed to get all my facts as at this point I was on the 7th page but I got almost all the facts I could and I also watched the A’s sweep the Giants as I wasn’t able to catch any of the games over the weekend. Being an A’s fan is good but at times I wonder where the team is headed. I know it may sound negative but I wonder about some of the players that play for the team and they have to at least care for their team to win right? They play there heart out sometimes in terms of pitching and maybe even hitting but seeing the young players they have on the offensive side gets me ready to see if they can translate that to a full career with the A’s. I see a Jemile Weeks and I get excited because I know he can hit and I also see someone like Cliff Pennington who can hit a ball and he can also play a bit of defense. Our pitching is above average and I don’t care if everyone else is a Giants fan because they won a world series as every franchise has a downtime as it is my belief that every team has there down time and up time. Come to think of it almost every franchise has won a championship except for the Mariners, Rangers, Rays, and a handful of NL teams. But anyways, nothing too special about this day other than work and finishing up my paper.

Day #10 6/18/11: Right on the money…

I rushed this day to my old condos seeing as how I was on my lunch at this time of the night. It was a special day because I got to work with one of my better co-workers that has quite a bit to discuss. Every time we work together we seem to have chemistry in terms of work rate and life as well. I remember this day she came to work late because she had just found her car which had been stolen recently and I was happy in the fact that she had a recent string of bad luck end in that category. I was also happy with the fact that this day I was inching closer to finishing my global warming paper which was finally coming together. Besides that, I also went to lunch at Burger King, took this picture right after, and also got gas right before I had to come back for my shift which all happened in 45 minutes. The day ended up with me having a chat with my old pals Walt and Sanders about going out but I had to refuse because I had to give my co-worker a ride home and I also had to continue my global warming paper. All in all, a good day to  be right on the money.

Day #9 6/17/11: 1,2,3 365 project continues…

This was an interesting day as I got to have one of my most memorable days by chatting up with my buddy that I work with every Friday and I enjoyed my walk of my dog and I continued writing my global warming paper. It was interesting that when I watched TNA wrestling that day I felt a better vibe throughout the air and it wasn’t just because it was a good solid program but it also captivated my interest as to why booking in terms of late 90’s programs is what makes the writers happy? It must be the interest in the small minority of wrestling fans still being in that era but it always fun to compare them and WWE. Anyway, I was happy to be able to work with my friend because he reminded that there always people out there that are willing to help you. I talked to him about his success and his failures with women and how complicated things have gotten in past relationships and also recent ones as well. I was happy to hear this from him because he told me one of the more successful things to look for in a relationship is seeing if there is one dominant person and one submissive person. It was good to hear this because I know not everyone is perfect and I took this picture to remind me of that. I would take a few trips to this safeway back in 2008-2009 when I would got off work at 11 and go with an old friend and the things that he was telling me would be akin to what my friend this day was telling me. I know that life is not perfect but seeing this empty safeway reminded me that the old times can always be new again. We also had a lot of laughs that night as my other co-worker, W and my friend had a fun time trying to figure out how we were able to spill milk and all three of us in the same night! It was certainly a memorable night and my friend capped off the night by having a cigarette which by all accounts he probably deserved.

Day #8 6/16/11: Epic Journey…

An old friend of mine used to say that taking a walk on a local trail was an epic journey but this day was something and I would only begin to hold my breath when I saw what kind of journey was ahead of me. The day started off with me going to my ES class at De Anza and enjoying my class time with my fellow mates. However, that day my brother and I had arranged for a day filled with buying my dog flea medicine and also taking his daughter and the dog to work. I said sounds great. Then he and I proceeded to go to a car stereo installing place pretty far away and then I thought this is the beginning of a journey. So, after that we headed to Pet Club in Mountain View for my dog’s flea medicine but the only problem was that his daughter loves animals and she enjoys seeing fish, rabbits, dogs, and cats as well. So, she had trouble getting away from seeing the rabbits and the fish that are in this corner. We headed out afterwards to the park where I threw my dog Paloma her new toy but the only problem was that she was already pretty tired that day from walking around to being a car at that time. So we stayed at the park for a while until we decided that my brother’s daughter had had enough of the park and we needed to jet to go get my brother’s car because I needed to work that night as well. Ok so everything at this point was going well. That is until I realized that I needed to pick up my mom as well. So we pick up my brother’s car and headed back to his house but the only problem was that he needed to go pick up some adult beverages for that night because he was having a party thrown for his birthday. So as we are heading back his friend tells him that he can’t pick him up and he would have to pick up his other friend on his own who lives all the way in Milpitas. What I thought would be a three hour getaway ended up being an almost 5 hour journey with hassles and constraints in between but all I had to say afterwards was damn I wish I could do it again!

Day #7 6/15/11: Bash…

This was the day of my brother’s B-day and we decided to celebrate by throwing him a bash of some sorts by cooking meat on the grill and also having the entire family there was certainly a help. We had my dad, myself, my brother, his girlfriend, my mom, and also my niece. I do miss hanging out with my brother now that he is on his own living with his daughter and his girlfriend. But, this day I soaked in the fact that we are a family that sticks together through thick and thin. Here, my niece shows me a rock that she had recently learned how to handle and she plays with them all the time. She is quite the hassle but at least we have fun while we see her grow.

Day #6 6/14/11: Going to school with an infant…

This day was fun as my brother and his family, as well as my mom headed to Great Mall to buy my niece some shoes. I will never forget the smile on my niece’s eyes as she saw another baby trying some shoes on as well. There is something about infants and the smiles that they bring out that makes me wonder how great it is to be an innocent child that knows nothing better than to be out there in the free world not having to worry about school and all the other hassles in the world. This is a picture of the nearest elementary school in my neighborhood which has very little room for error as it is closed at this time.

Day#5 6/13/11: That one last rush of blood…

You’d think that the last real week of school before summer hits that kids would be stressing out and guess what? It’s as true as it ever was. I know that through my several years at De Anza College I have seen the parking lots be full the first two weeks of classes before the adds, drops, no shows, and just plain “I’ll just show up for the tests and paper deadlines” start to pile on. This parking lot holds a lot of good memories for me because of all the time spent taking naps, studying for tests, reading for a class, listening to music, talking on the phone, and heck even running into an old friend of mine and catching up on old times for a good ten minutes or so. I know for those that just dash out of here at noon or even earlier that they might not think much of what community college has provided for them but for me I’ve learned to become a much more knowledgeable person. It seems as if being in a community college allows you to speak up for yourself instead of being stuck in a lecture hall all day. I enjoy classes that hold depth, structure, respect, and also ones that serve a purpose to us as a society. It may be that you may not need geography one day but for me taking two geography courses has made me see that California is just a small part of what is a big world. We may not realize it but being in an environment like this allows us to see that there are many opportunities out there and interacting with everyone else is a plus. I realize that my time here is winding down and I just need two or three more courses to finish community college but for now I will just say thanks for the memories De Anza!

Day #4 6/12/11: Menudo It’s the whole cow…

I remember growing up thinking this had to be the worst thing ever invented but now that I’m older I’ve realized that this is not that bad because it is actually getting good fat and actually used as a good way to wake you up. The day before my dad at Chavez had gotten this dish but we decided we would eat it the next day instead of actually going through it at once. Eating with another person is quite special because you get to discuss what has gone on in your day or you may even talk about what you want to do that day with you parent or whomever you may be having food with. I know that on several occasions I have had the opportunity to talk with my dad or mom about some of the things in my life and talk about what they mean to me. Many times over the years, I have seen my conversations with my friends evolve from almost a small sample size to something even bigger. Talking with someone about your favorite sports, your day, your life, and even anything else can be comforting and almost soothing to the soul. I know talking to my dad is quite comforting and relaxing because of how close we are to each other. This day was a bit stressful because I had to finish a paper on high school dropouts and I also had to deal with a wine specialist and let’s face it, wine is not my best subject but hey at least I tried.

Day#3 6/11/11: That main menu over there…

One of my favorite restaurants/taqueria’s because of the unique styles and the way that they actually make the food in front of you and it is very quick in terms of how they keep the line moving along the way. I enjoy coming here because my dad is the one that insists on us making a trip here and if it wasn’t for him I would think I’d be completely different in terms of the kind of person I am. He has shown me that you have to find any sort of way to put food in our loved one’s mouth and instead of being cheap, it’s good to take someone out to eat once in a while. This day was filled with confusion and frustration because of how our leadership at the Big Red Machine has been in recent months as one of our supervisors has been cracking down on people that are doing horrible jobs and this supervisor has devised a plan to get one of the assistants to crack down on who is not pulling their weight. It was certainly a tense day at work but we got through it because of our strong willed team and our ability to mesh together as one.

Day#2:6/10/11: It’s a new day…with milk and eggs blocking my way

You’d think with a Friday that you would get to relax at work but in my case it is an understatement. Every Friday at the Big Red Machine I get to work with someone who I consider a good friend of mine and every time I work with him I feel so confident and fluid with energy that I know we will end up doing a good job. My typical Friday includes waking up and taking my dog for a walk and in this case we go for a half hour walk in my neighborhood. Afterwards, I put on some TNA and sit back to enjoy it. Lately, however I’ve been working earlier than usual at 4 in the afternoon till midnight almost. I know when I walk in every Friday my friend will be right there ready for an epic work day because as a human being he is ready and he is game whenever he is called upon duty. I remember one Friday I requested off he asked the very next Friday where I was and I thought right there, “he enjoys my company so good for me”. This picture reminded me of that day because there was quite a bit of work to do but we got off relieving our stress by talking about old Mexican movies and how cheesy they are in terms gimmicks, stunts, extras, and also the amount of violence that is put into them. I truly do appreciate the guy’s company and he makes the job ten times funner. Thanks Buddy!
