Day #87 9/3/11: 6 hours later and a 2 hour and 50 minute flight…

Waiting at an airport

Somehow, I woke up with some nasty shoulder pain but mom ended up massaging my shoulder and I felt better by the time we got ready to go the airport which I felt at the time was ready to go. This airport is about 45 minutes from Fresnillo and when we got there we were expecting to have our bags checked and to be checked in right away. Boy was I wrong! It turns out that they merged two flights together and so began the long 5 hour wait to be taken into the waiting hall. Nobody had really been informed and there were many people that were upset. I didn’t really do anything except listen to music and I thought at that time that I should have brought another book because by that time I had already finished have a nice day. The funny thing is that Mexican airports like to charge you for extra weight and they did just that and they also have numerous checkpoints which are ridiculous. For example, even though your bag has been x-rayed they will still check your backpack to see if you are stashing anything. So, as we waited even more I was bored out of mind and once I got on the flight I started watching the Best of Nitro which is a good look back at wrestling and it’s glory days. When we got back, my friend Manuel picked us up and my cousin cooked for us which was a welcome back gesture and the rest of the night we just rested. Good times indeed! (Final author’s note: It was a fine trip, but airports in Mexico are terrible!)
