Fantasy football on the horizon…

Why fantasy football exists I’ll never know but people thrive on the spirit of competition and in this case it is no different. This year, I’ll be in a yahoo league that has twenty teams but only 14 have signed up so far. The past few years have been pretty fun with my first year in fantasy being in 2005 where my main stars on the team were Chris Cooley, Peyton Manning, Clinton Portis, Steven Jackson, and Marvin Harrison. The first year I finished with a solid 6-6 record, missing the playoffs by less than a 100 points which crushed my spirits but I was only a rookie back then but the next year is when I really got into it. I had a team that was stacked this time around with a rookie Tony Romo, Peyton Manning, Tony Gonzalez, Larry Fitzgerald, and a sleeper in Lee Evans. This is the year I finished 9-6 and I was more proud of this team than any other because it was the first time I really was shocked at how good and how complicated how fantasy football can become. The last few years, injuries have occurred and unfortunately nothing has really surfaced in terms of a championship but the closest I’ve made it to winning it was in 2007 with a team that had Matt Hasselbeck, Bernard Berrian, Bobby Engram, and Reggie Bush. But this year is going to be different because I know how to draft and what to expect when a bye week happens or when a injury occurs. Fantasy footbal may seem dumb at first but what makes it fun is when we as a league watch anxiously every sunday and we see if and how our players are going to score and when the players have a big game, it’s a cause for celebration which is always fun to do. The cool thing is that I got my best friend, JB, in the league last year which should be fun because the league has people that I would consider very knowledgeable football fans and also people that know how to play correctly. In there are teams with names such as Hellfish, fresh510, Bigfoot, LegendKillers, and wildcat. I wonder sometimes to myself how do people come up with their fantasy football names? I laugh at them sometimes but if it means that much to them to use it that way then all the power to them. This season is going to be different this year as I can feel the anticipation for how I am going to mull and think over the certain matchups of the week which is always reason for debate with friends who play fantasy football. It has become a hit for reason but mostly I think I do it for the fact that there is always a surprise ending or a dramatic flurry of trash talking which is endless because everybody is freaking tough behind a computer screen aren’t they? The guys don’t even know each other and they talk so much crap to each other and it is almost like wtaching a bad comedy movie unraveling but I have joy with it because it never gets old as we just rag on each other like crazy and there are no limits in this league. The There will be Deer Blood league kicks off this Saturday morning and it only gets better after that, cheers everybody here’s to Madden 11 which comes out today:
